Aerial view of Denver, North Carolina
Lincoln County

On the west shore the view is half the property.

So the fence has to do its job without taking the thing you bought the lot for.

Bigger lots change the answer

Lots on this side are generally larger than the subdivision yards across the water, and that changes the arithmetic. Fencing a whole acre in board is a serious number. Fencing the part you use, in board, and marking the rest in split rail or aluminum, is a much smaller one and usually a better looking property.

It also changes the fence type. On a big lot a solid line at the boundary does nothing useful. Privacy is only worth paying for where somebody can actually see in, which is normally one side and the road.

We price it in pieces so you can see what each part costs, rather than handing you one number for fencing everything and letting you guess where the money went.

Getting a truck to the line

Access is a bigger factor here than most people expect. A long driveway, a soft verge after rain, a septic field you do not want a loaded trailer crossing, and a fence line four hundred feet from anywhere a truck can park all add hours to a build.

We look at it on the estimate visit and plan where material gets dropped. It is not the interesting part of the job and it is one of the larger drivers of how many days it takes.

Septic in particular is worth flagging early. Neither the tank nor the field is somewhere to be setting posts or driving over, and both are easier to work around when we know where they are.

Pools, water and hardware

Pool fencing is common on this shore, and it is the one fence where the rules are not a matter of taste. Height, picket gap, bottom clearance and self closing self latching gate hardware are all specified and all inspected.

The gate is where good looking pool fences fail. A closer that only shuts the gate when it is thrown hard passes a lazy test and fails a real one, so we set it to close from a small opening and check it with you standing there.

If you are fencing a pool, say so on the first call rather than at the end. It changes the specification from the start.

I got multiple quotes, and he was the best priced as well. What I am most impressed with is that they put a screw hole in one of my posts backwards when installing a gate. Instead of just leaving the screw in, they removed the entire post and put a brand new one in. As a contractor myself I wish all of my crews would take a thought to quality like that.

If you're looking for high quality fencing, with superior craftsmanship, for a fair price, then look no further. I am an absolute perfectionist when building. These guys met every expectation and then some. They showed up on time, worked hard, cleaned up their work areas daily, and completed the job within my expectations.

Nick's Fencing was a lifesaver. They fixed a fence that had been installed incorrectly by another company, something many companies wouldn't even give us a quote to repair. Nick came out on a Sunday, was extremely responsive, professional, and truly went above and beyond to make sure everything was done correctly.

We had gotten five quotes from various fencing companies in the area and signed a quote with two of those companies who then did not show up or return our calls to install. Nick was installing a neighbor's fence so I asked him for a quote and he showed up within a few weeks and installed in basically one day. Fence looks great and quality is top-notch.

Nick and his crew made quick work of our old fence in just a few short hours. Within 2 short days later we had a fence to our liking and our very active German Shepherd Olive loves the new fence. All of his crew were very respectful and did great work. Pricing is very fair.

We were in a time crunch to pass homeowners insurance inspection. He graciously came out the next day to quote and his team fit us in within that first week. Without direction, they saved landscaped bushes and worked around them. I appreciated watching his team examine the fence slats to ensure there was no warping. His knowledge about pool fencing requirements was incredibly helpful.

Regularly. Denver and Westport are normal service area for us and the drive is not the reason for anything on the estimate.

Usually not. Board where somebody can see in, split rail or aluminum to mark the rest. It costs less and the property looks better for it.

Yes, and it is worth telling us where it is early. Neither the tank nor the field is somewhere to set posts or drive a loaded trailer.

Yes, to the height, picket gap, bottom clearance and self closing gate hardware an inspection expects.

Black aluminum, or split rail with mesh on the inside face. Both effectively disappear at distance.

It can, because material has to be moved further. We look at access on the estimate visit rather than discovering it on the day.
