What Mooresville yards ask for
Two things drive most of the fence work in town. New construction subdivisions going up east of I-77, where the yards are flat, the lots are close together and everybody wants six foot privacy board across the back and down the sides. And the older lake side lots west of town, where the ground rolls, the lots are bigger and the last thing anybody wants is to fence out the water.

Red clay, and what it does to a post
Iredell clay holds water. A post hole dug in it is effectively a bucket, and a post standing in a bucket rots at the one point you cannot see, which is right at grade. That is why nearly every leaning fence we get called out to in this town is failing at ground level rather than up where the damage is visible.
The fix is not exotic. Dig deeper than the panel needs, set the post plumb, and crown the concrete so water runs away from the wood instead of collecting against it. It costs seconds a hole and it is the difference between a fence that stands and one that starts leaning in year four.
It also means we do not hang rail on a green post. Loading concrete that has not cured is how a straight fence goes crooked over a season, and it is one of the more common faults we find on repair calls.
HOAs, and getting ahead of them
Most of the newer neighborhoods here have an architectural review process, and it usually wants three things: the style, the height, and where the line sits. None of that is hard, but the approval takes as long as it takes, and starting the conversation the week you decide is cheaper than starting it the week you want the fence.
One customer wrote that we were on standby ready to get the job done as soon as her HOA approved, because she had dogs that needed a fence. That is the useful pattern. Get quoted, get approved, and then the build slots in rather than waiting on paperwork.
